Diversity and Inclusion

Diversity is a foundational principle of any integrated effort to understand and advance the interdisciplinary field of neuroscience. As we navigate this complex world, we encounter remarkable neurological diversity across individuals and species. The Neuro Next Initiative at Georgia Tech recognizes that the most innovative communities are made up of individuals with a broad range of perspectives committed to supporting and learning from each other. One where individuals feel welcome and empowered to advance the fields of neuroscience and neurotechnology supported by colleagues dedicated to strengthening the field by amplifying the voices of diverse lived experience in our labs, classrooms, clinics, and meeting rooms.

As stewards of innovation, we also recognize that the increasing societal integration of neurotechnologies can change life in unexpected ways for patients and communities. We are dedicated to cultivating a diverse and inclusive community passionate about innovation that is responsible and sustainable.

We aim to foster a research community built on the values of belonging, diversity, and inclusion in several ways:

  • Facilitating the creative exchange of ideas across disciplines with a foundational belief that all perspectives and fields of expertise are equally valuable and important

  • Actively working to identify, address, and eliminate barriers and inequities that members of our community may face because of any of their individual characteristics

  • Advocating for the responsible deployment of research and technologies
